Terms of use
Using the Atlas.
Updated October 17, 2026. These guidelines describe use of the free Kauaʻi Conservation Atlas and its optional Passport features.
Learning and scientific reference
The Atlas is a growing educational and scientific resource maintained by Domain Science Consulting. Records, identifications, images, and answers can be incomplete or contain errors. Check cited sources and current agency guidance for decisions involving access, safety, fishing, collecting, or conservation rules. Atlas information does not grant permission to enter land, collect organisms, or disturb protected places or species.
Passport and community contributions
A Passport is free. Keep your sign-in credentials private and use an account you are authorized to use. Share only text, photos, recordings, or other material you have the right to share publicly. Respect other people’s privacy and culturally or ecologically sensitive information.
Contributions are displayed in the community features you submit them to. Community comments and identifications are not automatically scientifically reviewed. Spam, harassment, misleading material, and inappropriate or unauthorized uploads may be moderated or removed.
Images, sources, and reuse
Atlas material comes from multiple sources and may include photographs, illustrations, renderings, and contributed media with different permissions. Follow each item’s credits and source license. Viewing material in the Atlas does not give blanket permission to reproduce third-party content. Contact us if a credit, permission, identification, or other record needs correction.
Privacy, corrections, and contact
Our privacy policy explains Passport, Google sign-in, saved lists, public contributions, and usage data. You can use the correction links on records or Contact to report a problem. For account or data questions, email info@kauaiatlas.com.
